A structured finance specialist, Mr Lewis has spent more than two decades in the industry, launching Oceana Investments (Asia) Limited in 2014, he has overseen the growth of Oceana Funds’ flagship Oceana Australian Fixed Income Trust (“OAFIT”), creating one of Australia’s best performing fixed-income investment vehicles since 2016.
Since inception OAFIT has placed more than $3.5bn of medium-term Notes with wholesale and sophisticated investors. Mr Lewis also co-founded Oceana Property Partners in 2021 and has since completed the acquisition of five assets in addition to an IRR of 13.2% on the realisation of two assets to date.
Mr Lewis believes in structuring, partnership, risk management, and takes a ‘best-of-breed’ approach to all Oceana's strategic endeavours. Previously he was Executive Director of Oceana Investments (Asia) Limited, responsible for the management of a structured credit and direct equity investment portfolio focused on the consumer and technology sectors. Mr Lewis spent five years at Investec Bank in the UK within the structured finance division and earned an MBA from ESADE Business School in Barcelona, Spain. He has a Finance and Operations Management (minoring in Economics) Degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst (cum laude) and is a Non-Executive Director of FC Capital Holdings Pty Ltd. He is also an observer to the board of Finstro Holdings LLC.
Mr Wong joined Oceana in 2016 and has held the role of CFO since 2019. In the role of Chief Financial Officer, Mr Wong is responsible for all the accounting and financial work for the business and underlying funds, working closely with our audit partners for the relevant entities. Previous roles include working for PwC in Australia and Malaysia with over six years of experience in providing audit services to clients in the property and asset management industry.
Mr Wong is a Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA).
Sydney-based banking and finance specialist Gary Segal is Oceana Funds' Chief Commercial Officer and General Counsel bringing more than 20 years of industry experience to the role. Prior to joining Oceana he was formerly Head of Wholesale Legal at HSBC Bank Australia Limited covering its global banking, commercial banking and global markets businesses.
A specialist in corporate finance, Mr Segal has extensive experience in cross border (syndicated, club and bilateral) acquisition and general corporate facilities, distressed debt transactions as well as corporate and real estate acquisition financing. He also has broad M&A and structuring/company secretarial experience including setting up structures for investment syndicates.Mr Segal will be primarily responsible for overseeing, managing and developing the legal function at Oceana Funds as well as driving the Australian distribution strategy.
A graduate of the University of NSW, Mr Segal holds a Bachelor of Laws (graduating with a distinction average) and Bachelor of Commerce majoring in finance and IT.
Mr Segal was recognised as one of Australia’s rising stars on the Legal 500 GC Powerlist in 2019.
Mr Goodhardt is an experienced Data and Analytics professional. Prior to joining Oceana, Mr Goodhardt was Lead Commercial Analyst at I-Med Radiology, where he over saw the implementation of sales and marketing KPIs and measurements to drive revenue, a patient focused NPS solution leading to patient led decision making, and an AI modelled product (HVD) to reduce churn. Prior to this, he worked for one of OAFIT's originators, Finstro, where he developed the sales KPI model, assisted in the implementation of salesforce CRM system, and created a range of monthly board reports for decision makers. He now serves as a thought partner and data expert for the Trust, offering insights to influence strategic decisions, and developing new data strategies as well as looking to implement machine learning and AI to empower the leadership team. He has a Master’s Degree in Information Systems from Victoria University in New Zealand.
Mr Tharme is a senior manager with over 20 years of experience in the finance and stockbroking industry. He has a proven track record of leading high-performing teams, improving operational efficiency, implementing new systems and processes, and managing relationships with clients and service providers. He has worked for various Australian and global firms, including Stockspot, Macquarie Group, TradingScreen, Gleneagle Securities, Arnott Capital, and Fortis Clearing. He holds a Diploma of Financial Markets from the Securities Institute of Australia.
Mathew is a strong believer in structure and process, and a champion of continuous improvement and innovation. He has been involved in several projects, such as migrating service providers, implementing a new global Middle Office platform, and coordinating connectivity to various services such as Omgeo CTM.
Mr Robertson was a partner and head of the financial services team at McCullough Robertson for 14 years prior to joining Oceana.
With over 25 years' experience as a financial services lawyer, Mr Robertson's focus is on managed investments and financial services.
Co-authoring 'A Practical Guide to Managed Investments' published by the Law Book Company (now in its third edition), Mr Robertson regularly lectures on compliance with the Corporations Act 2001 and financial services.
Ms. Vince is a seasoned Executive Assistant with a diverse background in the Legal, Government, Commercial Property, and Financial Services sectors. With six years of experience supporting senior executives, she brings a wealth of expertise to her role.
In her previous position at a global asset management firm managing $839 billion in assets, Ms. Vince supported the co-founder and chairman. She played a pivotal role in launching the firm’s first three ETFs in Australia, handling executive support, project management, and implementation.
At Oceana, Ms. Vince serves as the Executive Assistant to the CEO and oversees all administrative functions for the broader team. Additionally, she leads Oceana’s social media strategies, offering a fresh perspective to enhance our online presence.
JT has been involved in banking, finance, and funds management for more than 49 years and is considered an expert in commercial mortgage lending.
After initially training with a major bank, a building society, and then a credit union, JT joined the Howard Group in 1987, where he began managing the Howard Mortgage Trust. The Trust managed assets of $3.3 billion and was not only the largest, but consistently the best-performing, trust of its kind in Australia.
JT was formally the chairman of the Financial Services Council mortgage fund sector working group, with a mandate to develop better disclosure within the industry. He has also previously advised APRA and ASIC on industry matters.
JT also has an enviable record of not having lost a single cent of investor funds in his mortgage and property fund activities.
JT is a very experienced non-executive director including in the NFP sector.
Mr Weinberg has over 25 years’ experience in financial technology as a Senior Partner and Head of Corporate Strategy for Optiver APAC, a global proprietary trading company utilising systems and technology developed entirely in-house. Currently Mr Weinberg is a member of the Optiver Global Foundation board.
Mr Weinberg is a member of the Derivatives advisory committee for the Hong Kong, Singapore, and Korean Exchanges and an advisor to Oceana in the promotion of the Trust.
With over nine years of experience in advertising and marketing, Thea is a skilled visual designer specializing in creating design solutions. She has collaborated with clients across diverse industries, including e-commerce, food and beverage, hospitality, tourism, sports, events, education, and technology. Through visuals that drive engagement and strengthen brand recognition, she combines technical expertise with a deep understanding of audience needs to deliver designs that resonate.
Carl has over nine years of relevant experience in finance and accounting in capital markets, manufacturing, nonstock non-profit organization, leasing and retail industry and has previously worked in various audit and assurance engagements with EY Philippines. Carl has also worked as a general accountant for various US SME clients before joining the company.
Carl is a Certified Public Accountant under oath in the Philippines and his role is to support the CFO in all aspects of the finance and accounting of Oceana Funds.
Mr Brehm brings over 12 years of experience within financial advisory, infrastructure, real estate funds management, investment banking, and structured finance. In the role of CEO - FC Capital, Mr Brehm is responsible for executing a range of large-scale cross border transactions in different asset classes including property, infrastructure, derivatives, and private equity.
Mr Brehm previously held roles at KPMG, SMBC, and Deutsche Bank.
Tom is a corporate lawyer with a focus on financial services, funds management and technology. Tom has managed internal legal, risk and compliance teams, executing on all manner of complex M&A, debt and equity transactions, and strategic projects. Tom provides governance advice to boards, strategic advice to senior executives, and guidance on day to day matters like employment issues, commercial contracts, restructurings, and disputes.
Tom was previously Head of Group Legal at HUB24 Ltd, and General Counsel at Mawson Infrastructure Group Inc, as well as legal and secretariat roles at ANZ Bank and Macquarie Bank. Before moving inhouse, Tom held senior roles at national law firms such as HWL Ebsworth and Clayton Utz.
Mr Sharma has over 18 years of experience as a Business Technology Executive, with demonstrated leadership success in mergers and acquisitions integration, identifying capability-enhancement opportunities, developing corporate-aligned strategies, orchestrating business growth and cost savings through metrics-integrated strategic transformation (business and technology) programs.
Kieran has over 17 years’ experience in financial services across origination, deal structuring & execution and relationship management roles in Australia, the UK, and New Zealand. Kieran is experienced in corporate and mid-market lending, leveraged finance transactions, institutional banking and started his career in business banking with the Bank of New Zealand.
Kieran previously held roles at Challenger Group, National Australia Bank and Macquarie Group.
Ryan has close to 20 years of experience in banking and alternate asset management, which include Origination, execution and relationship management roles with South African banks and alternate asset management businesses. In his last role he played an integral role in managing and investing funds in a successful asset based lending and structured finance fund.
Claire has over ten years of experience in debt and equity investments, fund management and corporate finance, with a focus on private markets and real assets.
She is a CFA charterholder and holds a master’s degree in analytics, as well as a double bachelor's degree in accounting and commerce. Prior to joining FC Capital, Claire worked at Deloitte, Qualitas and Healthscope.
Kevin Joined FC Capital from 2012 and had more than 8 years experiences in corporate finance. He has been extensively involved with numerous mergers and acquisition transactions, corporate finance projects, financial modelling, statistical data analysis and risk management.
He is currently involved in the management of FC’s corporate investment portfolio and involved in company’s corporate finance transactions.
Scott started his career on Wall Street in the 1980’s and has been a senior executive at some of the world’s leading financial services firms including Citigroup, Credit Suisse, Merrill Lynch, Salomon Brothers and Zurich.
He has served as Chairman, CEO, CFO, COO, CTO, director and strategic advisor at numerous start-up, private equity backed and listed companies in Silicon Valley, Silicon Alley (New York), Europe and Australia.
Scott has an Economics degree from Wharton (Accounting, Finance and Entrepreneurial Management).
Dustine has 25+ years’ banking, finance and securitisation experience at private and listed businesses.
He has held senior finance roles with legal and risk management responsibility at AIMS Financial Group, Merrill Lynch HSBC, BNP Paribas Equities Group and Ord Minnett Group (JP Morgan).
With audit experience at PwC and Deloitte in London, Hong Kong and Sydney, Dustine is a qualified Chartered Accountant, member of Chartered Accountants Australia and NZ and was a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
Jacqui has over 20 years’ experience in business and technology consulting, large scale transformations and start-ups.
After 9 years at Accenture, she served in the Banking & Financial Services and Funds Management divisions of Macquarie Bank then was CIO at Service NSW, CIO at NSW Treasury, CTO at Xinja Bank and CTO at Avenue Bank where she designed and implemented core systems to meet regulatory and prudential requirements.
Jacqui holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting & Finance) from the University of Technology Sydney and has served Advisory Boards for IT organisations and non-for-profits. She is an Acts of Kindness (AOK) volunteer.
Ben has 20 years’ experience within the Fintech landscape having managed and led large scale operations in NZ, Australia and Manila. Working for industry leaders such as Humm Group, Prospa and Valiant Finance, he has experience across all areas of the business from sales, service, collections and project management.
His passion is leading and developing teams, finding solutions to problems and implementing best-in-class practices.
Ben was recognised externally as New Zealand’s Contact Centre Manager of the Year in September 2012 through the CCiNZ awards.
Shaun has 25+ years finance sector experience ranging from vendor programs to major banks.
He has held senior operational roles with CiT Group, Dell Financial Services and Dell Computers as well as managing vendor relationships with Societe Generale, Suncorp and Flexi Group. He is an impassioned leader who drives his team to achieve and exceed KPIs.
He holds a Degree in Business (Business Management) and is a Justice of the Peace along with being a member of the Risk Management institute of Australasia and an Associate of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
Andrew is an accomplished commercial leader with over 20 years of experience in the finance and sales industries, driving revenue growth, market expansion, and strategic business development. He has held senior leadership roles across the sectors and served as a trusted advisor to some of Australia’s leading non-bank lenders.
William Choi is a final year student at the University of NSW, pursuing a combined degree in Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce, with a major in International Business. Prior to joining Oceana, William gained valuable experience in legal research and litigious drafting at Wentworth Chambers and has held various commercial transaction consulting roles at BDO and Ernst & Young.
As Oceana's Legal and Commercial Clerk, William works closely with Chief Commercial Officer and General Counsel, Mr Gary Segal. He assists Mr Segal with a range of tasks, including legal and commercial research, contract review and drafting and investor analysis.
Mr Srikusalanukul is a final year student at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), currently pursuing a Bachelor's of Information Systems and Commerce, with a major in Business Analytics. Throughout his university studies, he has worked on a variety of data analysis and forecasting projects involving various programming and end-user coding languages, as well as tools such as Excel, Tableau, and SAP Signavio.
Additionally, Mr Srikusalanukul has received certifications for Alteryx Designer Core and Amazon Web Services, and is in the process of obtaining his SAS certification. As a Business Analyst at Oceana Funds, he collaborates with the Head of Investment Research, Tony Goodhardt, on tasks involving data analysis, reporting, and forecasting.
