Oceana Funds has a skilled and passionate team integrating our underlying fund offerings with a robust infrastructure incorporating relevant areas of distribution, underwriting and risk, finance, property, compliance, and IT.

Oceana Funds was founded to deliver superior risk adjusted returns to all stakeholders and conduct business with the highest integrity, our people reflect these values.

We originate and manage assets in the private credit and property sectors with the relevant personnel core competencies. Our team has deep experience in funds management and distribution, and counts investor relationships as our greatest intellectual property with a network spanning the globe.

OAFIT PRINCIPALS & ADVISORY

OAFIT has a scalable and experienced team with Oceana Management and >100 FTE providing the infrastructure to originate and manage OAFIT’s underlying assets and the systems and architecture where they are housed.

This is complemented by extensive credit and receivables portfolio management experience with corporate governance and oversight supported by an independent Fund Manager Board and Credit Committee representation.

We originate eligible receivables assets, apply a rigorous credit assessment, and utilise proprietary systems and operational infrastructure which we believe to be best of breed.

Our highly experienced leadership team continuously works to a single goal of creating a unique and superior fixed income product.

David Lewis

A structured finance specialist, Mr Lewis has spent more than two decades in the industry, launching Oceana Investments (Asia) Limited in 2014, he has overseen the growth of Oceana Funds’ flagship Oceana Australian Fixed Income Trust (“OAFIT”), creating one of Australia’s best performing fixed-income investment vehicles since 2016.

Since inception OAFIT has placed more than $1.5bn of medium-term Notes with wholesale and sophisticated investors. Mr Lewis also co-founded Oceana Property Partners in 2021 and has since completed the funding and acquisition of its founder assets.

Mr Lewis believes in structuring, partnership, risk management, and takes an ‘best-of-breed’ approach to all Oceana strategic endeavours. Previously he was Executive Director of Oceana Investments (Asia) Limited, responsible for the management of a structured credit and direct equity investment portfolio focused on the consumer and technology sectors. Mr Lewis spent five years at Investec Bank in the UK within the structured finance division and earned an MBA from ESADE Business School in Barcelona, Spain. He has a Finance and Operations Management (minoring in Economics) Degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst (cum laude) and is a member of the Credit and Investment Committee of FC Funds Management Pty Ltd and a Non-Executive Director of FC Capital Holdings Pty Ltd. He is also an observer to the board of Finstro Holdings LLC.

Kevin Wong

Chief Financial Officer

Mr Wong joined Oceana in 2016 and has held the role of CFO since 2019. In the role of Chief Financial Officer, Mr Wong is responsible for all the accounting and financial work for the business and underlying funds, working closely with our audit partners for the relevant entity. Previously roles include working for PwC in Australia and Malaysia with over six years of experience in providing audit services to clients in the property and asset management industry.

Mr Wong is a Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA).

Sean Robertson

Compliance Advisor

Mr Robertson was a partner and head of the financial services team at McCullough Robertson for 14 years prior to joining Oceana.
With over 25 years' experience as a financial services lawyer, Mr Robertson's focus is on managed investments and financial services.

Co-authoring 'A Practical Guide to Managed Investments' published by the Law Book Company (now in its third edition), Mr Robertson regularly lectures on compliance with the Corporations Act 2001 and financial services.

Eddie Pegoraro

General Counsel

Mr Pegoraro has over 20 years of experience in legal, corporate and international taxation; capital and transaction structuring; transaction execution; business strategy, and funds management in Australia and internationally. With Bachelor degrees in Law (Honours), Arts, and Commerce from the University of Melbourne, Mr Pegoraro also holds an MBA from Macquarie University and is currently licensed to practice law in New South Wales.

Connie Henderson

Lead Creative and Content Designer

Ms Henderson is the group’s Lead Creative and Content Designer. Having spent a decade honing her skills design and content development, first in PR and then in brand design, Ms Henderson brings a world of experience to her role with Oceana.

Adept at new digital technologies, skilled across multiple design platforms and strong in written communication, Ms Henderson is responsible for upholding Oceana’s brand guidelines, applying her conceptual and design expertise in the preparation of documents for print and publication and our marketing team.

Connie is also the company’s accredited Mental Health First Aid officer.

Clementene Chaplow

Operations Manager

As Operations Manager, Ms Chaplow maintains the day-to-day administrative operations of the group. Ms Chaplow has experience working in finance and professional services firms before joining Oceana.

Having worked closely with Executives at CPA Global, Quay Consulting and Rice Warner, Ms Chaplow is experienced working alongside leaders and managing directors, employing agility and efficiency to excel at stakeholder and project management.

Within Oceana, she works closely with the founders, leadership and executive teams, and is instrumental across key policy, planning and strategic decisions and regularly develops, implements and reviews operational policies and procedures. Ms Chaplow manages the recruitment and training of new staff and oversees the company’s budgets, reporting, planning and auditing procedures. She ensures Oceana’s culture for professionalism and collaboration are upheld at all times.

Darrell Hendry

Daniel Weinberg

Mr Weinberg has over 25 years’ experience in financial technology as a Senior Partner and Head of Corporate Strategy for Optiver APAC, a global proprietary trading company utilising systems and technology developed entirely in-house. Currently Mr Weinberg is a member of the Optiver Global Foundation board.

Mr Weinberg is a member of the Derivatives advisory committee for the Hong Kong, Singapore, and Korean Exchanges and an advisor to Oceana in the promotion of the Trust.

Brad Prout

Mr Prout has over 30 years’ experience in financial markets, specialising in project, infrastructure, capital markets and credit-based portfolio management.

With strong transaction experience in structured lending and receivables management, Mr Prout was previously Founder and Managing Director of ASX listed Ethane Pipeline Trust, Senior Vice President, Bankers Trust Australia and Senior Executive, SBC Australia.

Kevin Wong

Mark Donavan

Mr Donavan has over 17 years of financial leadership experience within the investment management and banking and capital markets industries. Prior to Finstro, Mr Donavan held executive positions with Macquarie Group, Bluestone Group, Janus Henderson Global Investors, and PwC.

With a Doctorate in Economics, bachelor’s degrees in economics and Accounting, Mr Donavan is a valued member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Sava Trifunovic

Mr Trifunovic has over 35 years of executive management experience in private and public companies, including VISY Industries. Having managed strategic projects in finance, manufacturing, and operations, with a strong technology focus that has delivered sustainable cost-saving benefits, Mr Trifunovic has proven expertise in building seamless integration between onshore and offshore operations.

Mr Trifunovic has been a member of the AICM for over 30 years and managed a $3.2 billion credit and risk portfolio.

Christian Brehm

In the role of CEO - FC Capital, Mr Brehm is responsible for executing a range of large-scale cross border transactions in different asset classes including property, infrastructure, derivatives, and private equity.

Mr Brehm previously held roles at KPMG, SMBC, and Deutsche Bank.

Shaun Swinton

As Head of Lending Operations - Finstro, Mr Swinton is responsible for FCFM’s credit and lending operations team and a member of the Credit Committee of FC Funds Management.

Tom Whitworth

Mr Whitworth joined Finstro in 2013 and lead the team to develop the original Finstro platform. As CPO, Mr Whitworth oversees all product development of Finstro, from research, to design, and technical implementation.

Serving in the Australian Infantry before joining Finstro, Mr Whitworth holds a BA in Economics with a major in Econometrics from the University of Sydney.

Payal Mahindroo

Ms Mahindroo is a senior lawyer with over 15 years’ experience working mainly at international law firms (including Norton Rose and Ashurst) and in-house at Westpac, prior to joining FC Capital. She specialises in advisory and transactional work for international and domestic clients across a broad range of industry sectors, having particular expertise in mergers and acquisitions (regulated and unregulated, cross-border and domestic), equity capital markets, infrastructure and resources projects, capital management and restructuring transactions, commercial agreements and general corporate/commercial advisory.

Daryl Buss

Mr Buss’ experience in the payments industry spans more than 20 years, where he has built several successful enterprise sales teams. Mr Buss comes to Finstro from Shift4 Payments, where he most recently led their Enterprise Business Development Team. Prior to Shift4, he spent several years driving sales within Vantiv/Worldpay, Elavon/U.S. Bank, Wells Fargo, and others.

Damian Speziali

Mr Speziali has nearly 20 years’ experience in banking and debt advisory, included senior originations, relationship management and distressed debt roles with Lloyds, FIIG Securities, and Westpac Institutional Bank.

Mr Speziali has successfully financed in excess of $1bn of debt across Corporate, Acquisition Finance, and specialized Property transactions.

Ati Harsh

Kevin Cheng

Shrikaanth Balasubramaniam

Mr Balasubramaniam joined FC Capital in July 2018 as an analyst in the Corporate Finance team with over seven years’ experience in investment analysis and valuation. Prior to joining FC Capital, Mr Balasubramaniam spent five years with CRISIL, one of India’s largest financial services companies, supporting the investment research and valuation team of a German investment bank.

Mr Balasubramaniam is qualified as a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

Patrick William

Grant Traub

Mr Traub is a founding partner and CEO of Oceana Property Partners. A real estate finance professional, Mr Traub brings 19 years’ experience in deal origination, capital transactions, asset management, restructuring, and debt recovery. Prior to joining Oceana, Mr Traub was the Head of Real Estate at Centennial Property Group and was responsible for the transactions and asset management functions. In addition, Mr Traub held roles at Dexus working in Transactions and as a Portfolio Manager, responsible for the performance of over $1.5bn of assets.

Mr Traub is responsible for the full life cycle of investment activities from investment initiation to investment realization. Further, Mr Traub has oversight of investor communications, corporate strategy and is a member of the group’s Investment Committee.

Kalen Foster

Head of Investments

Mr Foster has over 13 years of direct property experience working across a broad range of property and funds management businesses.

Spending much of his career at the front end of commercial transactions in the value-add and core-plus space, Mr Foster has a strong understanding of the value extraction process and the need for stringent acquisition criteria when assessing opportunities. Prior to joining Oceana, Mr Foster led acquisitions at Quintessential Equity, placing the firm’s first blind value-add fund. In addition, Kalen has held various roles at Dexus, including leading industrial acquisitions nationally and at GM Property Group as Head of Transactions.

Mr Foster is responsible for asset origination, execution, and divestments across all sectors for Oceana Property Partners.

Alex Healey

Transaction Manager

Over the past eight years, Mr Healey has worked in direct property transactions teams on both the buy and sell-side.

He initially specialised in Queensland office assets at CBRE, before moving to the buyer’s side with Sentinel Property Group. His role as Assistant Acquisition Manager at Sentinel had a much broad remit, with its various national funds investing in office, industrial, retail, large format retail and other specialised real assets. Mr Healey completed approximately $220 million worth of transactions during his tenure at Sentinel, including what was (at the time) the largest deal in the fund’s history.

Mr Healey's experience has given him a strong grounding in underwriting, due diligence, transaction management and financial modelling – which are the responsibilities he has taken on at Oceana Property Partners.
